I need to vent...

For just a moment...I need to vent about something.
On Sunday we were watching the Packers game. GREAT game! But here's the problem...the commercials. A football game is a fairly G rated show. (although you could argue differently because it's 'violent' and if you can lip read you see things that aren't allowed to be verbalized on TV) But overall...I don't feel the need to change the channel if the kids come in the room while we're watching football.
Until the commercials.

Commercials are just getting worse and worse. I don't want my kids (or myself) seeing graphic and gross ads for horror movies or way too sexy ads in the middle of a family-friendly program. Sad.

My answer would be to have a rating system for commercials. If a TV show is rated as decent enough for young people, the commercials should be rated that way as well.

Does this bother anyone else?

  1. I read this post before and definitely agreed. Then today, our mom's group had a speaker who has a 14 yr. son and 16 yr. daughter. Her son and husband like to watch UFC on TV and of course those commercials are terrible. The dad takes that opportunity to teach the son to "bounce his eyes away" when something inappropriate comes on. Such a great idea. Of course our sons are going to be bombarded w/ sex. So instead of us trying to shield them from it, let's teach them to guard their own eyes from it. She said they do this at teh mall too. So helpful to me!!
